A large platter for serving through all seasons. Circular motifs remind us that things are ever evolving and yet moving in cyclical patterns. The seasons platter is made from a stoneware clay with high iron, painted with an iron wash for decoration and glazed with a strong, food/dishwasher safe glaze. Fantastic for serving all sorts of food and or decorating a surface or wall. This would make an extra special gift for the holiday season.
The platter is thrown and trimmed on the wheel, fired once, painted with decoration and then glazed using a spray gun. Finally it is fired the last time up to 1212 degrees C. This clay sometimes creates bubbles when at top temperatures and you can see these, two small ones in the base and a number of larger ones in the rim. They will not impact the function of the platter and comes from impurities in the clay. It is a sign of the extreme molten temperatures that the clay has been at in order to melt everything together into the resulting product.
