A little bit more information about me, Timothy Droppo. I am a hobby potter who has been working with clay since 2020 when I took a course at a local studio. Now I have my own workshop with a kiln, wheel and everything else one needs or doesn’t need in order to make ceramics!
If you are interested in anything specific or commissions for businesses then feel free to contact me about custom orders.

My workshop is in Helsingborg in the south of Sweden. This region of north western Skåne is a historical center for many sorts of industries related too ceramics. The area had factories to make bricks, pipes, sewer parts, and household wares from local clays. There are a huge number of different clays here in the region which I am exploring using old documents, new data from the geological institute and a shovel! The clays date back to 500 million years ago until around 150 million years ago.

I am interested as well in tea, specifically the tea culture that exists in Asia which my partner introduced me to this some time ago and we continue to explore the many intricacies of tea. Ceramics are a large part of making and drinking tea which is part of the fun! I have started making tea ware which is greatly inspired by Japanese and Chinese ceramics. There are certain clays in China which are said to brew better tea and are not glazed on the inside to allow the tea to contact the clay while brewing. My tea ware is made from exclusively clay from here in the north west of Skåne. Some clays can also be used as glaze along with ash, rocks or even old bricks. I feel a greater connection to my work in this way and I hope that you will too.
