Description
This hanging wall vase is quite grotesque in some ways. I was aiming for unrefined when I threw it, and that is what I got. The bottom is trimmed too early which causes the porcelain to roll up on itself creating a texture I actually quite like. It is unique to this material, and quite annoying when you don’t want it to happen. The form is inspired by two Japanese forms. One form that is often for holding water for tea and has these ears and the other fact that you can make a vase which is intended to hang on a wall.
There is brick pieces that have been pushed into the surface, some of which have melted creating large black drips. There is also marks from the flames of the kiln, creating the orange hues on the surface. An eye catching object to have hanging with some flowers on a bare wall. Or just as a vase.
TheĀ vase is not glazed but holds water. It is not stamped. I forgot.
