Description
This style of vase is called a Tsubo in Japan and is a classical form that I have been enjoying experimenting with. The glaze on this vase is extremely soft to the touch and on the eye. The clay is a recycled mixture and is a light brown which has reacted with the glaze to create the surface colour. Drips show a difference in thickness where the glaze has been applied thicker and run down creating a stately collar.
The neck of the vase has a slight rounded indent and a flat pane which draws the eye up to whatever the contents of the vase are. The vase stands on a tightly curved foot which elevates the body up leading to a feeling of lightness.
The inside is glazed and is 100% water tight so will not damage furniture if standing filled with water for an extended time. It is signed on the base by me.
