Description
A one off thrown vase with wide shoulders and glazed with a mixture of a local clay and ash that was harvested from a wood firing. The glaze shows orange areas called flashing where it is thin and light olive green hues where thicker. The pricks come from a brick with high iron which melts at the firing temperature. I crushed the brick and threw the vase with it in the clay so that when the brick melts it combines with the clay and the glaze creating a freckled texture. I collect small pieces of brick from the beach where it has been washed around in the ocean for many decades.
A beautiful vase for flower arraignments or dry grasses.
